Arta/Betlem/Colonia San Pedro/Canyamel

Arta is located 55 minutes northeast of Palma. The old and charming village is placed on a hill surrounded by glorious fields and garden landscape known as the "huerto". From the hilltop the convent offers a stunning view of the broad Alcudia bay. Behind the railroad station in Arta the ancient settlement Ses Países is to be found, it dates back 3.000 years. Arta’s stalactite grottoes are also famous, you can find them next to the sea outside the village of Capdepera. They can be accessed by boat from Font de Sa Cala or Cala Ratjada. The castle in Capdepera dates back to the 14th century and offers a great overlook of the sea as far as Menorca. The cliffs are mixed with the loveliest little beaches such as Cala Mesquida and Cala Aguilla, both protected wild life areas. You can enjoy good mountain hiking next to the sea, to even more secluded beaches. There are several golf courses available in the area.

Colonia San Pedro is located on the eastern end of the Alcudia bay, a fishing village with its small leisure port. Enjoy fresh fish at one of the best restaurants there. There are also various shopping facilities available. Also the beautiful sandy beach and many sport facilities, including horse riding excursions along the coast will make this village unforgettable.

About 3km further along the coast comes the picturesque village of Betlem, it borders a naturally protected area and is situated at the feet of the spectacular mountains of Capo Ferrutx, with views over the whole bay of Alcudia. Betlem is a one of the quietest and least exploited areas of Mallorca. Peace and quiet along the rocks, cristal clear waters at the virgin sandy beach. Also hikes to wild coves and the amazing convent on the mountain top. The village offers only a couple restaurants, but the neighbouring Colonia Sant Pere has all the facilities necessary.
