Description
Santanyi has many fine art galleries and boutiques for interior decorating. In and around the tiny town you can find bars, cafés, bakeries and food shops as well. Santanyi has a charming car free centre where the restaurants and bars are located. This is the home of the famous golden sandstone, the marés. The stone is very commonly used for buildings and decoration.
The coast from Cala Santanyi towards the southern area of Ses Salines is flat and open, but it climbs to 64 metres at Cap de Ses Salines – the most southern point of Mallorca. The peace and quiet to be felt while enjoying the spectacular view from here is very special. Between Santanyi and Ses Salines is the enchanting old village of Llombards with its nice sandy beach.
A few minutes towards the east is Cala Figuera with its lovely fishing harbour, portrayed many times by artists. The port area offers pleasant cafés, restaurants and a promenade with excellent views of the port and its boats. North of Cala Figuera you will find the most attractive sandy beaches on the east coast of Mallorca. Cala Mondrago and Cala S'Amaradors are both located in natural restricted areas where there are 30 metre cliffs and grottoes. The beaches are small and exquisite. Enjoy the good food and drink provided at the beach restaurants. The nearest golf course is about 20 minutes away.
